Nissan NV200 Taxi Cab Now Available in California

Nissan NV200 Taxi Cab Now Available for California Buyers

January 1, 2014

When Nissan North America won the New York City "Taxi of Tomorrow" bid, I was excited. When they announced that the NV200 Taxi would be sold to other markets I was thrilled. Now that the first NV200 Taxi is on the ground here at Vacaville Nissan, I am ecstatic!

At first it arrived off the truck, covered in white sheets of plastic with hints of yellow shining though. It was pulled then to the front of the dealership where almost everyone stopped working to take a look at it. One of our customers even said "I want to be a cab driver now, just so I can drive it! Look at the roof, it's glass!" they said.

Nissan definitely hit the nail on the head with this taxi. It not only appeals to its passengers, but more importantly it appeals to the drivers themselves.

From the outside the NV200 Taxi boasts a bright yellow exterior with two sliding side passenger doors. These wide opening doors trigger a rear caution light at the rear of the vehicle when open to let other motorists know a passenger is about to exit the vehicle. Also, when a side door is opened an automatic assist step slides out from under the vehicle to provide a little assistance getting in and out of the van.

The interior of the Nissan NV200 Taxi is almost work ready. A Plexiglas partition comes standard from the factory with a cutout for an automatic payment machine, an in cabin intercom and cash payment window. In lieu of the automatic payment machine option, an aftermarket LCD screen can be mounted for advertising solutions. This will allow the Taxi Owner/Company to charge companies to advertise on the LCD screen with a captive audience!

The seats in the rear of the van seat 3 and are not cloth but rather a leather-looking vinyl for easy cleaning. There are also USB ports and 12 Volt outlets for charging electronics.

In the cabin of the van the driver can enjoy all the creature comforts they would expect from a high end passenger car. Voice activated Navigation, Backup Camera and Bluetooth are all standard features as is XM Radio with a 90-day subscription. The passenger/driver partition is molded to allow the driver's seat to travel all the way back, accommodating long legged drivers.

We've discussed the comfort and convenience of the NV200, but we're leaving out a key component - practicality. The Nissan NV200 Taxi offers an EPA estimated 23 MPG City and 26 MPG Highway. Compare that to the popular Ford Crown Victoria's gas guzzling V8 and the fuel savings rack up in a matter of no time! The NV200 Taxi also provides drivers/owners a 150,000 mile power-trane warranty, double that of the NV200 Cargo Van.

So, lets recap - comfortable ride for drivers and passengers, innovative features and technology, great fuel economy and a monster power-trane warranty. The Nissan NV200 Taxi is a win-win!
